Science Policy Ambassadors: Union of Concerned Scientists Local Team
The Science Policy Ambassadors (SPA) at the University of Cincinnati is a group of undergraduate, graduate students, and faculty in STEM fields who are excited about the intersection of science and policy, eager to learn and share our knowledge on how policy influences science and vice-versa. SPA is the local chapter of the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), which is a nonprofit national organization that was founded 50 years ago at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology by scientists and students. SPA explores how scientists can better communicate with policymakers at local, state, and national levels. Members of SPA are excited to create a conversation at the University of Cincinnati and the local community on science policy issues, advocate for science and evidence-based policies, and provide science policy-related education and professional development for SPA members.
